JESSALIN DOANE
Job Captain
(she/her)
Jessalin is a rare unicorn. She was born and raised in Portland, Oregon; reducing-reusing-recycling, making bank shots into appropriate bins right from the crib. Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest, she is always looking for a sustainable solution to better the environment. Lessening our impact on the earth is no laughing matter, though this gal loves a good laugh. Hope you like Laffy Taffy, ‘cuz you may find yourself staring down the barrel of a fantastically weird dad joke.
Coming from a technical background at Washington State she entered the workforce in the contracting world as a project engineer for a Mechanical contractor. Although she gained valuable knowledge on contracting and constructability, she longed for a more thoughtfully complex approach to design in the realms that the modern profession of Architecture has only just begun to explore: social equity, deep sustainability and holistic human empowerment. Grad school at University of Oregon furthered her understanding and began to reveal potential design approaches to these critical issues.
Like us, Jessalin rejects the lone hero myth, bringing a uniquely collaborative perspective to project teams, ready to tackle any design problem alongside her faithful squad. Toting along 5+ years of experience in multi-family housing, mixed use, office space and historic renovations; she’s a true asset to everything we do.
When she isn’t trying to solve all the things, you can find her hanging out with her two rescue dogs and husband, drinking a chai latte (because they taste like Christmas and what’s better than drinking a cup of Christmas?!). Jessalin is also a self appointed foodie, always looking to try new Portland restaurants, bars and food carts. If there’s a new seasonal menu out, she’ll be the first one to invite you there to check out the kind of design you can taste!
