JUSTIN CLOYD

Project Architect
(he/him)

Like all kids growing up in the midwest, Justin dreamed of one day becoming the Sausage King of Chicago. In elementary school, his career goals swung toward archeology after learning he could defeat the Nazi’s and free enslaved children with historical artifacts, before finally discovering the secret superpowers of architects in Three Men and a Baby, The Lake House, and The Brady Bunch.  After his superpower training at Ohio State and a couple years in Columbus, he teleported to Portland in 2007, where his mixed martial arts training really kicked in; combining practical midwest problem-solving with pacific northwest environmental sustainability.

Justin’s 10+ year career working on student and multi-family housing, higher education, workplaces, and community spaces has taught him that architecture works best when you prioritize project goals as a team and you balance all the tradeoffs to best suit a particular project’s needs, no matter the budget, scale, or scope. Every successful project emerges from clients who feel heard by an aligned team that helps them shape their balanced vision.

When Justin’s not using his Keanu powers to find project solutions and save the world, you can find him hiking in the woods with his amazing better half and their two daughters, rooting for the buckeyes and ducks, and teaching his kids about the importance of having skill, strength, wits, and determination when out searching for the six-fingered man. And because great accomplishments are worth celebrating properly, join him and the rest of our team in a Ferris Bueller style parade dance when your project is done!
